Brazil in the art spotlight

The Brazilian Pavilion at this year’s Venice Biennale brings a homage to Brasilia’s co-architect Lúcio Costa



…and an homage apparently to soap-opera by architect and movie director Marcio Kogan.


Meanwhile in Brazil, Spanish artist Jaume Plensa erects an enormous head out of the Guanabara Bay, part of art project OIR (Other Ideas for Rio).

Brazil at the closing


Still about the Olympics closing ceremony, shots from the Brazil prologue, which featured Marisa Monte (as Yemanjá), Seu Jorge, BNegão and Pelé.

The show was designed by Jum Nakao, a Brazilian-Japanese artist in partnership with renowned German LED sculptor Moritz Waldemeyer. The LED costumes were synchronized to the beat of the drums.
