Green trouble

DC thinks it’s pushing the envelope by making its newest Green Lantern an American Muslim. I wasn’t going to say anything, but then I started reading the comments on the web… “Is Muslim Green Lantern going to stone gay Green Lantern to death?”

But the real question is, how come that darn space ring can only pick American males to yield its powers? And does he have to be masked and holding a gun?

Wonder Woman and Superman

Again. Every few years DC Comics decides to pair these two up for some reason or another, with things usually ending up in friendship. This year, reporter Alyssa Rosenberg lambasts the dryness and unsexiness of the cover for Justice League 12, comparing it to someone "smushing a Barbie and a Ken Doll together. These don’t look like humans who are attracted to each other and in the process of making actual sexual contact." Writer Geoff Johns says we'd better get used to it.

And with that in mind, another round of Wonder Women.

Joe Kubert 1926-2012

Another comics Master has left the building.

My favorite Kubert phase was his brief stint drawing Hawkman in the 60s.
